Top 10 Quirky and Rustic Yorkshire Wedding Venues I love

This post goes out to my favourite wedding venues in my home county. There are so many to choose from, as always I love a quirky wedding. All photos below are from Weddings I’ve photographed at the venues.

1. Wold Top Brewery, East Riding of Yorkshire

Muddy Souls events ran by the lovely Anne are based at Humanby Grange. The venue is…let’s just say..pretty special.  First of all you head up to the top of the Yorkshire Wolds. The views are incredible and I mean INCREDIBLE! It’s very private, and a space you can truly make your own. If you are looking for a perfect east Yorkshire wedding venue..well look no further.

2. The Saddle Rooms // The Forbidden Corner

The Forbidden Corner is a five minute drive from my house. It’s also great for a day out AND they do weddings. I am not pulling your leg. The beautiful Saddle rooms are right next door on the Tupgill park estate. A  unique labyrinth of tunnels, quirky surprises and whimsical fun. Right in the heart of the Yorkshire dales.  You can have your cake and eat too it too when you book the Saddle rooms and get access to The Forbidden Corner! Very Very cool.

3. Barmby Field Barns

OK so this one is a favourite of mine and not because my mum lives around the corner. I’ve photographers A LOT of barn venues BUT this is a barn venue with a difference. It is an incredible and dreamy place. The barns are  18th Century and renovated, they are classic, and beautiful. The country side around is the Wolds, you have plenty of opportunites for a beautiful photo shoot with the sun coming down over the fields. You aren’t far from York, even a vintage bus ride away for all your guests.

4. Camp Katar, Bedale

Another local venue, I LOVE! If ethereal and whimiscal weddings are your thing, then just book this place. It has a glamping village where you can stay with friends and family. It has a rustic barn, it has a hobbit hole..Do I need to continue? Oh and it’s in Bedale the gateway to the Dales, sold yet?

5. Fruit, Hull

Now for a city venue I love. Fruit is bright and bold, it sits on the trendy Humber street in Hull. If indie weddings are your thing and you’re a bit of a cool cat, then look no further..This is the place. Fruit holds all sorts of amazing events, bands, gigs, it’s really bloody cool. You can personalise the venue to your hearts content.

6. York Maze

The Maize maze is pretty special anyway….BUT The fact you can married in a MAIZE MAZE is well AMAZING. With Large timber barns, a rustic feel, and a place no guest will ever forget. What’s not to love. It’s near York, but it’s still in the country side just enough to have that rural feel.

7. The Triton Inn, East Yorkshire

Thinking about a festival wedding, thinking about a place you get married in luxury BUT still have that festy feel. Like Tipis, like marquees, set in a beautiful oldy worldy village in east Yorkshire. It’s not too far from Hull, it’s very rural, and you’ll feel the luxury of the beautiful Triton Inn with the more relaxed atmosphere a festy weding gives.

8. Dalby Forest

I grew up a stones throw from Dalby. It’s a place for woodland adventure, walks and wonder. When I found out they did weddings, I was just a little bit excited. Woodland Weddings will help you sort out your special day in the heart of the forest. Have a look at the gallery on their website to be blown away. If you want a very uniqe wedding, and love the outdoors this is the one for you.

9. North Yorkshire Moors Railway

Amazing Scenery…CHECK

Quirky and vintage …CHECK

Steam Train Adventure … CHECK

A lovely way to spend your day. Over in North Yorkshire, you can get married at the Grade 2 Listed Pickering Station. A really unique way to spend you wedding day.

10. Swinton Bivouac

Fancy getting married in a beautiful little forest surrounded by a mini druids temple? Camping yurts for the entire family, clearings laden with flowers? If you love the outdoors and want something magical. This is your place. It’s the type of wedding where you can relax, and it has that WOW factor!

11. (An Extra because I couldn’t miss this one out!) River Mills Ballroom

So the Clue is in the name. Want something a bit different, love vintage feel mixed with modern day chic. Well look no further. River Mills Ballroom in Selby is the perfect quirky venue for you. It’s big enough to cater for a large wedding. It’s glamourous enough to be a 1920’s peaky blinders style ball. If that hasn’t got you keen, did I mention the grand box office entrance?
